Gobbl Rank: New York’s Best Pizzerias

At Gobbl we know that New Yorkers are dead serious about their pizzas, whether it be the plain and unpretentious slice that the city has become famous for (boasting flour infused with the city’s tap water and a very simple mozzarella) or the more straight-forward and flavorful Neapolitan pie, prepared with olive oil, fresh San Marzano tomatoes and dollops of Mozzarella di Bufala. Even New Haven-style hybrids like Frank Pepe’s have made their way down from the north and Sicilian deep dish pizzas have alos solidified their followings in a city that can’t ever get enough pizza.
With this in mind, Gobbl set out to concoct a secret formula to rank the top twenty pizzerias in New York City. As always, we’d like to get your feedback. Let us know if we left your favorite pizza joint off the list, and of course let’s see some debate. Pizzeria rank after the jump!

Any system to this? I am interested in your ranking system. I’d love to hit up these pizzerias and try some of the authentic pizza recipes.
Una’s pizza should definitely be higher despite its higher price tag. Una’s pizza is baked perfectly; its toppings don’t slide off the pizza and its crust is baked evenly. Every bit is consistent and the pizza is made with world class ingredients!

My favorite is Roberta’s in Bushwick, for their super crispy coal oven pizza…the DaKine in particular which includes very thinly sliced pineapple, jalepenos, and something that tastes like prosciutto. I think they cure it in house. I also am a big fan of Lil’ Frankies on 1st and 1st. Something interesting is that these 2 places also have really good music and laid back atmosphere all the time. That makes a huge difference!

Wonderful list of the best pizza in NYC, Gobbi. Spot on with Lucali! One of my personal favorites too. And Grimaldi’s; one of the best neighborhood fixtures in the city, I think. Had not been to Isabella’s or Totonno’s before and thoroughly enjoyed them; Thanks!
Have you tried Toby’s Public House in Brooklyn? I’d be interested in what you think of it. It’s quickly become my favorite, and I am not embarrassed to admit that I’m a serious pizza snob. Recently discovered (it’s only one year old. I think) I have fallen in love with their pizza (yeah, I’m that bad). Their pizzaiolos create THE most flavorful brick oven pizza. I’m tempted to gush over the fresh sauce they make and the bufalina mozz., but don’t want to bias you guys too much if you haven’t checked it out.
Your pizza opinions are so perfectly in tune, I’d like to hear your opinion of my favorite place.
Ok. That’s long enough. I’ve drooled all over my keyboard.
