before the tour of the sixpoint craft ales brewery, relaxed a bit at rocky sullivan's - comfortable neighborhood dive bar, housed in the same buliding as the brewery. had the sampler of mozzarella sticks, jalepeno poppers, fries, calamari...standard bar pickins, a bit overfried...washed down with some sixpoint sweet action...ahhhh, good stuff.
one of the owner's gave the tour...youngish dude who reminded me of opie (of the "andy griffith show" played by ron howard)...had me in stitches at times, veering into anecdotes unrelated to beermaking, like how he once punched his head into the ceiling stuck when sleeping on a loft...and even taking a long pause to check the contents of the office refrigerator while the group of 20 heads looked perplexed, "the hell?" more of such moments and stories came aplenty like the rich stock of beer being made in front of our eyes.
have a taste of..."sweet action," "bengali tiger," "gorilla warfare," "hop obama". worth the trek out into the barrens of red hook.
